Chapter 16: The Parricide
Chapter 16: The Parricide
As the police car moved forward, Li Yisen glanced at the seemingly calm policewoman, guessing that she had already guessed his intentions.
The first thing he was taught on the first day was not anything else, but the core lessons he had learned in his year in prison: never put yourself in a dangerous position, and be extremely careful with your equipment, otherwise, if you give the prisoners an opportunity, it will have very bad consequences.
The police car quickly arrived at its destination and immediately saw a woman standing by a tree, looking dazed, with half of her body obscured.
Evelyn tried to go forward and ask, but was stopped by Ethan Lee.
Don't go over there.
Lee Ethan slowly unholstered his gun and spoke to the woman from behind the car door.
"Madam, we are police officers. Please come out with your hands up."
The woman tilted her head, looking neither human nor ghost.
This made Evelyn frown. She had seen this before; it was a serious case of drug addiction.
His face turned ashen due to blood vessel constriction and ischemia, his pupils dilated and his gaze was dull. The shirt described in the police report had been taken off, which indicated that his body temperature was too high.
Other symptoms include muscle atrophy and tooth decay and loss.
The woman suddenly smiled, her black teeth looking somewhat disgusting.
"You're here, give me some of that."
Lee Ethan and Evelyn exchanged a glance, gleaning a more important message, and thus complied with each other's wishes.
"You come over here on your own initiative."
"Really?"
The woman obediently walked over, still holding a knife in her hand, and it was covered in blood.
Evelyn realized that the other person might have already stabbed someone, but she didn't know where the injured person was.
Put down what you're holding.
The woman glanced at the blood-stained blade in her hand, and actually threw it away.
The next second, the two quickly stepped forward and pressed the woman against the hood of the car. Evelyn pressed for an answer.
"Did you stab someone? Where is the injured person?"
"The injured?"
The woman stopped struggling, clearly falling into a hallucination.
"Yes, yes, my ex-boyfriend wanted to sleep with me even though I was already married, and the dog that bit me before also tried to bite me, so I killed them."
Lee Ethan's expression instantly turned serious. Was it really just one person and one dog? Or perhaps it was two people?
"Keep an eye on the prisoner, I'm going in."
"Um."
Lee Ethan pulled out his pistol and, at the neighbor's signal, entered the woman's house. He soon saw a man who had been slit in the throat, followed by a boy who had been stabbed, his shirt and pants stained with blood.
Li Yisen hurriedly stepped forward to check the boy's pulse. As for why he didn't look at the man, it was because if his throat was slit, a few minutes' delay would definitely mean certain death.
"No pulse."
Even he couldn't remain indifferent to seeing a dead boy.
"Reporting to the station: Two bodies have been found at No. 11 Desheng Street."
"Received, support has been contacted."
Just as Lee Ethan was about to leave, a noise from upstairs made him draw his pistol again.
Someone
He slowly walked up the stairs and came to the door of the room, which was no longer moving. The door was ajar, so he could not see what was inside.
Is someone there, or is no one there?
Meanwhile, the Middle Eastern man inside was also nervously pressed against the door. He had come to discuss the share of drugs with the drug dealers, since the woman and her husband were the lower-level dealers, while he was the upper-level dealer.
He had no idea that he would see a woman kill her husband and son as soon as he arrived, which would attract the police. So he could only come and search for the drugs that the woman's family had left over, which he estimated to be dozens or even hundreds of grams. He thought that since it was money, he shouldn't waste it, but now he was blocked at the door by the police.
My hand holding the gun was sweating. Don't open the door, you damn cop.
The next second, the door slammed heavily onto him, the force so great that it damaged the wooden door.
"Damn it."
"Bang bang bang bang"
The bullets fired wildly and missed their target. Before the drug dealer could escape, he had already been shot in the thigh and was unable to climb out the window.
"Damn cops."
"Bang bang bang bang"
"Bang"
He was shot in the other thigh, but the drug dealer didn't see anyone.
"Come out here, have the guts to face me."
"Your Glock 19 is out of bullets, so just put it down and surrender."
"You think you can just say you don't have it? I'm just... *crack crack crack*."
The drug dealer was stunned when he pulled the trigger but no bullet was fired as expected. The cops outside were silently counting how many shots he had fired during the firefight. How could that be?
"Put down your pistol and raise your hands immediately, or I will shoot you dead. By the way, if you surrender too late, you might lose your legs, since there is a possibility of bone damage."
The excruciating pain turned drug dealers into pragmatic and shrewd individuals.
"I surrender, please don't shoot."
As the mirror reflected the prisoner's surrender, Lee Ethan stepped out. He wasn't sure if the other party had any other weapons, so he forced them to surrender; otherwise, they would only be able to kill each other in a shootout.
But he really didn't want to kill this guy; he was on a list of drug dealers sent down from above, and quite a key one at that.
As Evelyn entered with a gun to provide support, other police officers soon arrived at the scene, took the injured prisoner away for treatment, and also cleaned up the body.
[Ding! Congratulations, host, for arresting the real culprit! You have arrested a robber who took advantage of the situation and received a three-star reward.]
[Extracting innate skills from two individuals involved in the case, achieving a three-star advanced skill level in bookkeeping]
[Advanced bookkeeping: This is one of the skills possessed by an accountant who has worked for a large company for several years, including counting money and identifying genuine and counterfeit banknotes.]
"What the hell?"
Looking at the skill description, Li Yisen was surprised that a core skill for a position could be included, and that it wasn't very useful.
Li Yisen put his skills aside for the moment and stepped forward to ask.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, just feeling a little unwell."
Lee Ethan tried to explain seeing the corpse from his own perspective.
"It'll make you feel better if you don't feel sympathy for the people and things involved in the case."
"..."
"Never mind, you'll get used to it after seeing more children's corpses."
Evelyn almost lost her composure. "No, you can just say 'corpse,' why do you have to specifically say 'child's corpse'?"
Li Yisen didn't say anything more. If it were a man, he would suggest that the other person find a woman to vent to and sleep with her.
But she's a policewoman, so I can't risk being accused of sexual harassment. I should suggest she find a man, or at least have a boyfriend.
The two then went back to the police station to write reports before going home.
In the evening, a policewoman wrote down the events of the day in her notebook. It was her diary, a habit she had maintained for many years, even though she knew that many people thought it was foolish.
"Ethan actually told me today that he's gotten used to seeing so many child corpses. What a terrible senior."
Evelyn closed her diary, stretched again, revealing a deep cleavage beneath her pajamas collar, her large, full breasts contrasting with her slender waist. She quickly fell asleep on the bed, which was worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Lee Esen had no idea he was being criticized by a mere trainee police officer. He was in his room at home testing his skills, counting out the little cash he had.
"That's a terrifying skill."
Lee Esen found it quite amusing that his money-counting speed seemed to be phantom-like.
