Chapter 1919: Divinity Points
Chapter 1919: Divinity Points
Reaching that goal proved to be more difficult than Rex anticipated.
Normally, he would see some results whenever he was learning something new, which was mostly because the System was able to provide assistance. One of the newest skills that he learned was the three layers of the elements.
Of course, he couldn’t deny the help from the transcendent-rank artifact.
But in the end of the day, he could see results.
His new mastery over the three layers of the elements wasn’t combat-ready, not yet. He would need far more training before he could wield it under the stressful conditions of a battle. But with complete focus, in stillness, he could utilize it fine.
Not even a day, and he could already see results.
It wasn’t the case for the Pure God Sense skill.
Even after days of solely focusing on training this skill, he still couldn’t sense immortal energy.
Since it was the dominant energy within the God Realm, immortal energy should be in abundance. It was everywhere. And yet he couldn’t sense even a trace of it. Rex already asked the System of methods to quicken this process, and there are items that could help, but it would still take time.
Most items that could support this skill increase sense efficiency, not an instant result.
And even then, the increase according to the System was around three to five percent. Negligible.
At least for Rex, this was quite a slow pace.
"System, I feel like the Pure God Sense skill is connected to something. Derived to something," Rex’s voice was low, thoughtful. Whenever he activated the skill, there was little at first—only a faint, gentle brush, like wind grazing his skin. But once it settled, the warmth intensified, spreading across his entire body. It felt like there was an amplifier that Rex wasn’t aware of. "Or am I only imagining it?"
"I knew it..." Rex massaged his forehead.
His senses are sensitive as they are, so he was certain there was an amplifier inside him.
It turns out to be the divine points.
Rex checked the divine points.
...
...
"Tch," Rex clicked his tongue in displeasure. "Only four hundred? Even compared with the Gardeners, this was a pitiful amount. All of them averaged at around one thousand, and I am not even half of that. No wonder I sucked at this."
Strength-wise, he might be as strong as the Demigods and Awakened Demigods.
However, his divinity points are pitiful.
Had it not been for his Absolute Anger Effect, he wouldn’t have been able to win against anyone in this realm.
Being a Scion proved to be an incredible achievement.
Not that he wasn’t aware of that already.
"And how exactly are these divinity points calculated?"
"Yes!"
"Huh? How expensive are we talking?" Rex was momentarily at a loss for words. Killing the Godlings guarding the vault gave him an astonishing hundred million gold. By all rights, he thought he didn’t need to worry about gold anymore.
But this was the God Realm, where even the most minute things would cost a lot.
"Just buy it," He sighed. "I’ll take the answer over the price."
As it turned out, the information carried a high price—because it was tied directly to the explanation of Godling ranks. According to the System, a Demigod needed divine strands to unshackle their body from mortality. Only then could they ascend to become an Awakened Demigod.
An Awakened Demigod marks the start of the path to the divine.
Beings that are in this realm are not tied to mortality and could sustain higher sources of power.
From the rank of Awakened Demigod and above, divine strands were no longer needed to upgrade the body. Instead, they became the very fuel of a being’s power. Divinity points, the System explained, were calculated based on the number of divine strands one possessed.
Higher divinity points meant higher divine strands, and higher divine strands meant more powerful.
It was quite simple to understand.
Of course, there are strong sources of power that could add an additional bonus to one’s divine strands.
But Rex doesn’t have any of that right now.
"In that case, divine strands are basically similar to elemental affinities," Rex thought aloud as the talent of a being in sensing and utilizing immortal energy was tied to divine strands, as how elemental affinities influenced one’s talent to a certain element. "And to get divine strands, I can either cultivate my realm or steal from Kaiser. Oh, wait, there’s one more method..."
Rex’s lips curled upward into a sinister smile.
He had made the right choice, and now he might accidentally have the solution to this problem.
"For me to at least learn to sense immortal energy in a few days—how many divinity points do I need?" Rex asked in a whisper, deciding that he would need to focus on amassing divinity points first before anything else. "Give me a target."
...
Description: Mastering the Pure God Sense skill and sensing immortal energy properly are of utmost importance in order for the user to tackle the assignment given by the High Lord. And to do that, the user would need to amass divinity points.
Divinity Points: 400 / 10,000
Time Limit: -
Rewards: Calculated based on the user’s performance.
...
Reading the sudden help only served to make Rex’s lips curl even higher.
Just the fact that the rewards are going to be calculated based on his performance made it clear that the System also knows what he was thinking. "Ten thousand, huh..." Rex rubbed his chin, quite pleased that the amount was lower than he expected. "I remembered Vadyn having fifty thousand. But then again, I’m only asking to sense immortal energy, that’s all."
"What are you smiling about?" Lilliana stepped out of the guest bedroom.
She saw Rex was smiling, and became curious.
Rex glanced at her and couldn’t help but ogle at her curves.
She was dressed in immaculate black. A fitted high-neck crop top clung perfectly to her frame, and high-waisted trousers that were cinched with a simple belt of polished steel. The Silverstar Mark poked from her trousers. Draped over her shoulders was a sharp black blazer, worn like a mantle rather than how it was supposed to be.
Her look was perfected with a gold necklace, making her look refined and elegant.
"Are you dressing to fight, or are you dressing to impress me?" Rex raised a brow.
"Why pick one? Why can’t I dress for battle and to impress you?" Lilliana giggled and swayed closer. She swept her tail aside and settled onto Rex’s lap, leaning back against his chest—then draped an arm over his opposite shoulder as if she belonged there. "Do you like it? I picked up a few outfits from good establishments at the mall. Best part, they come with built-in protection."
Rex’s eyes flickered as he scanned her clothes.
And true enough, it was a divine-grade piece of equipment from top to bottom.
"I like it," Rex wrapped his arm around her waist and nodded. "You’re really good at this."
"Of course. But you still haven’t answered my question."
"It’s nothing, really. Just thought of a good plan. Never mind that, how are you feeling?"
Lilliana flicked her hair back and glanced down at herself with quiet satisfaction. "I am feeling good. I think my tail has gotten longer, and my body’s starting to feel fully mine again. I should be fully one of your pack members very soon—but that’s what I think. Why don’t you tell me if my transformation is done or not?"
"Yes, you’re nearing completion." Rex scanned her again with the System, and the results confirmed that her words are entirely true. "You’ve also gained an ability from enduring your first berserk state called the Predator Mind. It makes you more resistant to losing yourself to madness. And if you stay close to me while your anger is rising, you’ll grow even stronger."
"Is that so?" Lilliana pressed her forehead against his as her smile broadened—their faces were barely an inch away. "More resistant than Davina?"
"Davina hadn’t gone berserk yet," Rex nodded. "So, yes. More than her."
"And this new ability also incentivizes me to stay close to you?"
"Something like that."
"Another reason I can use to stick close to you, then."
"Your sister isn’t going to like that. Not one bit."
"Do you think I care about how she felt?" Lilliana pressed her index finger against Rex’s chest, and through it, she could feel Rex’s pounding heart inside. A sensation that made her smile. He must be both worried and excited at the same time. "I care about what you... think"
Just as their lips were about to touch, Rex pushed her back with his hand, forcing her to stand.
At the same time, Davina stepped out.
Rex blinked, surprised to find Davina dressed similarly to Lilliana—yet completely different in effect.
She wore a fitted high-neck top that covered her completely—neatly tucked into high-waisted trousers. Earrings caught the light, completing a look that was elegant, immaculate, and utterly composed. Like the kind of person she has always been. "I thought you said you were going to wear your armored suit." Davina’s eyes narrowed.
"I was about to, but changed my mind," Lilliana shrugged.
Seems like they both have the same exact thought, like they were twins.
"Why? Are you bothered?" She looked at Davina up and down. "Threatened?"
Before the familiar sibling quarrel could ignite, Rex cleared his throat and retrieved something from his inventory. A pair of faceless black masks; each marred by elegant, curving lines of gold. He set them on the table. "Wear these. I don’t trust the Red Skull Elite Force. It’s best if you both keep your faces hidden. Stay under the radar."
"Hmm?" Davina entered the living room and raised a brow. "I don’t need to hide my face. I can defend myself fi—"
"Sure thing!" Lilliana cut her mid-sentence, trotting happily, and took the mask. "I’ll do as you said. It’s not a problem at all."
Rex nodded and stood up.
He was about to put the other mask away since Lilliana didn’t want to wear it, but she snatched it from his hand before he could put it away. Seeing the annoyance on Davina’s face, he didn’t dare comment on this.
Deciding to remain silent.
Soon enough, the one who was supposed to pick them up arrived.
Rex made sure to inform Evelyn and Gistella in the Silverstar Genesis about what he was going to do and the fact that he needed to close the portal down. It wasn’t clear how long he’d be away, and Liebert had already seen the portal.
Keeping it open would only put those two in potential danger, so he has to close it.
And since he didn’t know when he’d be able to open it again, he must inform those two.
Surprisingly enough, Evelyn and Gistella didn’t mind at all.
Both of them were engrossed in cultivating the Realm Fertilizer, and that’s assuring to see.
I also need to help them gain divine strands and increase their divinity.
Rex glanced at Davina and Lilliana; as strong as they were, they would need to be a Demigod in order to really compete with those in this God Realm, so he’d need to find a way to help them. As he and the sisters entered the black sedan, there was Liebert sitting on the front seat.
"Where are we going, exactly?"
"To the home realm of the Red Skull Elite Force."
Just like that, the car zoomed away and slipped into another realm.
