Chapter 2589: Fenshen Sword? Please Wait in Line!
Black Tower City, City Lord’s Mansion.
"There are quite a lot of things here. Judging by their style, many items are from Eastern Radiance North Sea. It seems Black Tower City hasn’t spared any evil."
In the treasury, Carson Flores, Cassiane Sinclair, and Ilvarion Arnold took a turn, their eyes dazzled by the array.
Cassiane smiled and said, "In the end, it’s to our advantage."
Carson said contentedly, "These people were either killed by them or sold by them. We have avenged them, and these things are our reward. I think they would be very willing."
Cassiane asked, "How do we handle Black Tower City?"
Carson smiled and replied, "Although plundering is rampant in Black Tower City, not everyone is involved. We should kill all the bad guys in charge and then hand the city over to a fairly honest person. After all, the ordinary residents need their protection; we can’t just kill everyone."
Cassiane nodded slightly, quite agreeing with Carson’s suggestion.
Carson turned to Ilvarion and said, "Take anything you like or need."
Ilvarion gratefully replied, "Thank you, big brother!"
Looking at Cassiane beside him, he sweetly added, "Thank you, sister-in-law!"
Cassiane pursed her lips with a smile, not saying a word, but Carson gave Ilvarion a light kick, "If you’re going to take something, just do it, instead of wasting time talking.: "
Ilvarion chuckled, running off to sift through the treasures.
After being saved, Ilvarion assisted in setting up a formation to trap Zaldric Goodwin, showcasing his capability.
He witnessed Carson and Cassiane’s fierce path, annihilating all the high-ranking members of Black Tower City, quietly infiltrating, then having Heartbewildering Pathist summon all disciples from various outposts with the City Lord’s Decree and subsequently slaughtering everyone.
Ilvarion was astonished by the duo’s power and methods, becoming their fervent admirer.
Insightful, Ilvarion cautiously inquired about their relationship, discerning from their reactions that they were beyond friends but not officially together; hence, he started addressing Cassiane as "sister-in-law."
Cassiane did not deny but neither did she affirm nor explain, leaving Carson with no room or reason to address the issue.
Since Cassiane didn’t rush to clarify, why should you?
Are you eager to dissociate?
The items Ilvarion collected were mostly formation materials, eschewing any Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, displaying his astuteness.
"Alright, let’s pack up, splitting it evenly..."
Cassiane lightly chuckled, "You keep them."
Carson laughed, "You deserve more credit than I do; I’m already gaining by taking half, how can you refuse?"
Cassiane smiled softly, "These items aren’t of much use to me; you take them. If I need anything, I’ll come to you."
"Alright then!"
Carson didn’t stand on ceremony as Cassiane merely accompanied him, keeping things together if they stayed, and preparing a generous gift for her if they parted later.
Carson was never stingy or selfish; on the contrary, he was always generous to his people.
After handling the affairs of Black Tower City, Carson handed it over to a bewildered middle-aged man, ensuring he could maintain control before the trio departed.
Inquiries within Black Tower City provided Carson with a rough location of City of Netherfire and Snowwind City.
City of Netherfire lay roughly at the center of West Prison, while Snowwind City was in the Extreme Western Land.
To reach Snowwind City, they needed to traverse the entirety of West Prison.
"Big brother, I’ll go with you to City of Netherfire first, and if it’s not along the way after, I’ll head to Snowwind City alone..."
Carson said with a smile, "Alright, even if we linger in City of Netherfire without heading further west, we’ll find a reliable caravan or another group to get you to Snowwind City."
Ilvarion gratefully said, "Thank you, big brother!"
The trio headed westward, experiencing multiple robbery and deception attempts. Fortunately, their vigilance and strength allowed them to repeatedly turn danger to safety.
West Prison’s hostility towards cultivators from other regions was vividly exemplified.
Whenever Carson’s group appeared in a crowd, they were like fireflies in a pitch-black night, immediately attracting everyone’s attention.
Suspicion, wariness, hostility...
To reduce trouble, they had to change their appearance, donning gray robes, wearing hats, and using magic artifacts to conceal their faces.
Although the disguise was somewhat conspicuous, it was better than being the center of attention.
Stopping and going between cities, four months passed, and they finally reached City of Netherfire.
City of Netherfire encompassed a vast area, its grandeur remarkable, densely populated, and brightly lit like daytime, bustling with life.
Built against the mountains, the City Lord’s Mansion at its end marked the entrance to the mountain range, grand in scale, accommodating thousands, yet none thought the City Lord resided there.
City Lord Elthar Garber and the city’s elites resided within formations in the mountain for better cultivation, while the imposing mansion served as the entry point.
The mansion gates open, guards positioned, but none obstructive.
As Carson and his companions entered, a middle-aged man approached them with a warm smile, "How may I help you three?"
Revealing his true appearance, Carson greeted, "Carson Flores, disciple of Eastern Radiance Dragon Mountain Sect, here to request a meeting with Garber Master."
Unchanged, the man replied, "The City Lord is in seclusion. May I ask why you wish to see him?"
Carson candidly explained, "I heard that Master Garber possesses a sword, named Fenshen, with the miraculous ability to sever Life Imprints..."
Keeping his composure, the man smiled and said, "Indeed, that’s true. So, you’re here hoping to borrow the sword?"
Carson nodded, "Yes, I’m willing to offer suitable compensation or payment."
Laughing lightly, the man gestured, "Please follow me."
Carson was surprised, "That’s it?"
No further questions?
The group followed the man through the bustling front hall, traversing many corridors to a large hall.
The spacious hall contained numerous tables and chairs, adorned with fruits and tea.
The hall buzzed with people, some sitting alone, others in small groups, lively and bustling.
Curiously, Carson asked, "What’s this place?"
With a smile, the man replied, "The City Lord’s Mansion handles various matters of City of Netherfire, sorted by type to different areas for orderly processing."
"This room deals specifically with matters related to the Fenshen Sword, so please wait here in line; staff will attend to you shortly. In the meantime, feel free to relax and enjoy the fruits and tea available."
Scanning the scores of people in the hall, Carson widened his eyes, "Are you saying all these people are here to borrow the Fenshen Sword?"
Smiling, the man replied, "Not necessarily all for borrowing, but... close enough!"
