Chapter 881: One Billion
Chapter 881: One Billion
It’s Damian Knight!
Although it was just a glimpse of his back, Summer Monroe was absolutely certain it was Damian Knight.
But why would Damian Knight be on this commercial street?
Didn’t he say he was going back to the company for a meeting? Knight Group Headquarters is at least forty minutes away from here. It makes no sense for him to leave halfway through a meeting to go shopping here.
Summer Monroe looked carefully and saw a tall woman with heavy makeup standing opposite Damian Knight. The woman had an hourglass figure that men love.
The next second, the woman placed her hand on Damian Knight’s shoulder, and the two of them started walking toward a bar by the roadside.
In that moment, Summer Monroe couldn’t find the words to describe her feelings. Her heart was pounding abnormally fast, and she felt as if she were plummeting from the clouds, her face turning inexplicably flushed.
It wasn’t until the two completely disappeared into the bar entrance, and the red light turned green, that Assistant Shelton stepped on the gas and headed towards Crestfall University for the meeting.
Assistant Shelton didn’t notice Summer Monroe’s odd behavior and continued to engage her in conversation from time to time.
Summer Monroe didn’t want to reveal anything, wishing she could respond to Assistant Shelton, but her mind was in no state for rational thought and couldn’t follow his conversation.
Thankfully, Crestfall University wasn’t too far.
Summer Monroe placed the medicine herbs in the car and asked Assistant Shelton to take them back to Redleaf Manor while she wandered the campus aimlessly.
At this hour, the basketball courts were filled with people playing.
Summer Monroe unconsciously walked up to the bleachers, watching the vibrant youth below. Suddenly, she felt like a person in the twilight of life.
Soon, the sun set completely, and the number of people on the courts gradually dwindled.
The cool breeze blew against her face, and Summer Monroe finally felt calmer.
She believed Damian Knight wasn’t that kind of person, that there must be some misunderstanding.
Summer Monroe kept convincing herself, ultimately forcing herself not to think about it. She stepped into the library to continue her research in the archives.
While she was working diligently with the research, her eyes occasionally glanced at her phone.
—She was waiting for Damian Knight to call her.
...
Elsewhere.
Wave Bar.
Damian Knight removed the hand placed on his shoulder, his face cold as he said, "I’ve reserved the bar, you don’t need to keep pretending."
The woman smirked with her blazing red lips and suddenly reached up to remove her wig, revealing a short buzz cut.
"Oh, Damian baby, couldn’t you let me play the woman a little longer?" The person spoke, but it was a pure male voice.
Damian Knight glanced disdainfully and said, "Cut the crap, I called you in for a very important mission."
"Tsk tsk." The man feigned a hurt expression, saying, "I knew it, you wouldn’t think of me unless there’s something happening."
"Act normal; speak like a human."
The man chuckled, took a wet wipe to remove his makeup and casually discarded the fake breasts, then asked seriously, "What’s the mission?"
"Infiltrate Trevia and find out exactly what the people there are after."
"Trevia?" The man’s face grew more serious, losing his playful tone.
Damian Knight nodded, saying, "You heard right, that’s the country that never engages in diplomacy."
The man was silent for two seconds before speaking, "What’s the offer?"
"One hundred million."
"Huh?" The man laughed, "Boss, I’ve heard strange things about that place. Is that all you’re offering?"
"How much do you want?"
"One billion, and I want your wine cellar in the British Empire. I promise to get all the ins and outs of that place for you, even learn their dialect."
