Chapter 1023 - 974: The Mandarins Thief Duo (Part 2)
"..."
"Do people in Orienta like dancing?"
"Yeah. We’re a nation of dancers."
Susan studied jazz dance and was really into anything dance-related. Tilting her head, she asked, "So what kind of dances do you guys do?"
"Square dancing."
Sister Lily said, "My mom loves it. She goes to the community square to dance every single day. Her enthusiasm is off the charts. Last time I called her, halfway through our chat her friends called her to go dance, and she just hung up on me."
Susan had been drinking, her face all red, looking totally hyped. She stood up, grabbed Sienna Johnson, and dragged her toward the dance floor. "Come on, let’s go do square dancing."
"Huh?"
Susan’s enthusiasm dragged Sienna into the dance floor. Sienna was a bit stiff, and Susan, looking like she was about to battle-dance, said, "Come on..."
"No music, I can’t dance."
"What music?"
"’Little Apple’!" After thinking for a second, Sienna blurted out a song title.
Sienna used Susan’s phone to search up "Little Apple," that song that had taken all of South River by storm, the magical track even the uptight Sheehan couldn’t resist.
As soon as the music started and Sienna heard the beat, her spirits lifted and her body started moving on its own.
"...You are my little, little apple..."
Sienna’s skirt swished back and forth, really getting into it. Susan had formal dance training, so she quickly picked up the basic moves and landed right on the beat.
Orienta’s square dance really is something else. Just a few moves from her had way more effect than when Susan was swinging a little whip doing a sexy pole dance.
They drew a lot of looks from around them: two beauties, one a blonde Western stunner, the other a mysterious Eastern beauty...
"Adrian Desmond, get over here...!" Sienna was completely hyped and shouted loudly at Adrian. Adrian shook his head.
Dancing is such a strange thing—stepping to the rhythm, just a few simple moves can set every cell in your body on fire and pull you right into that heated atmosphere.
"Adrian, if you don’t come dance, you’re not getting into bed tonight!"
That threat worked. Adrian took off his jacket and joined in, though his moves were way worse than Sienna and Susan’s.
People in the bar started flooding into the dance floor as well. What started as just three people dancing quickly turned into a crowd. The DJ kept cranking it up hotter and hotter, and the atmosphere in the place just kept climbing.
With so many people, Adrian eventually loosened up too.
"You make every one of my tomorrows
Full of meaning
Life is short but loving you
I’ll never leave, never abandon..."
Someone patted Sienna on the shoulder. She turned her head and saw a blond, blue-eyed pretty boy.
People from Orienta tend to have face blindness when it comes to Foreigners, and Sienna didn’t recognize him for a moment.
"Where’s my car?"
Sienna froze mid-step, her brain short-circuiting a little.
"Cousin, that’s the outlaw lovebird duo who knocked me out and stole my car!"
Outlaw lovebirds?
Her? And Adrian?
The pretty boy grabbed Sienna’s hand. Sienna quickly snapped back to her senses and recognized him as the one Adrian had knocked out and dumped by the roadside, after which they very shamelessly drove off in his sports car.
That sports car was definitely not cheap. That was basically highway robbery. Absolutely a jail-time kind of crime.
"Cousin, hurry up and get over here, grab her! You deal with that guy... ah..."
Adrian clamped down on the pretty boy’s hand, with enough force to crush his bones.
"Ow ow... Cousin, help!"
A man in a police uniform stood up and started walking toward them. Sienna grabbed Adrian’s arm and, in a panic, blurted, "Run!" She pulled Adrian, ready to bolt.
"Belinda Rafael!"
She hadn’t heard that name in years. That was the name Sienna had used back at the Orphanage.
She reflexively turned around and saw a blond, blue-eyed man in a police uniform. She stared for a moment, not sure if it was this man who’d just called her name.
Just as Sienna was puzzling over it, she heard the man say, "I knew it was you!"
In flawless, standard Chinese—not like how Foreigners usually mangle the tones and sound all weird.
"Who are you?" Sienna asked.
"The one who took your first kiss!"
Sienna: ...
"What are you doing here in Achilleas?" the man asked.
Sienna couldn’t remember the man’s face, but she definitely remembered the person who took her first kiss. She’d cared way too much about that first kiss.
She’d wanted to save it for Noah Phillips, wanted to wait till she grew up and give him that first kiss. But then one day, a group of Foreigners came to the Orphanage, among them a little blond, blue-eyed boy.
Back then Sienna had thought it was magical—so there really were people in the world as pretty as the little prince from storybooks.
And then that little boy saw her, grabbed her, and kissed her... Sienna was scared out of her wits and had nightmares for a long time afterward.
A nightmare.
An absolute nightmare.
Sienna grabbed Adrian’s hand and tried to run, but the dance floor was packed, and they wouldn’t get far even if they tried.
Besides, Adrian had no intention of running.
Adrian had always wanted to know who stole Sienna’s first kiss. He’d originally pegged Noah Phillips as the culprit, but turns out it was this golden-haired lion.
"Who is he?" Adrian asked.
"Albert Fred."
Fred gave Adrian a once-over and asked, "And who are you?"
Adrian wrapped an arm around Sienna’s shoulders, staking his claim. "Her Husband."
Surprise flashed in Fred’s eyes. "You’re married this young?"
"We’ve got a daughter and a son."
Fred’s eyes nearly popped out. The surprise was quickly replaced by a stab of hurt. "So you did marry him after all..."
"We’ve got things to do, so we’ll get going first." Sienna hugged Adrian’s arm, eager to leave this mess behind.
Fred said, "You can’t leave."
If they didn’t run now, then when?
