Chapter 1092: Reversal
Chapter 1092: Reversal
The plot is heating up: Update! Come check out Cola Novels!
Three days later, the results came out.
Wang Nian's two papers were either published in a publication she paid for or ghostwritten. The national award certificate was genuine, but that was because her submitted materials included these two fabricated papers, and the reviewers did not carefully verify them.
The news caused an uproar throughout the School of Economics.
Those involved were disciplined, and Shen Jianming personally submitted an explanation and self-criticism to the school. He also issued an announcement revoking Wang Nian's postgraduate recommendation qualification and restoring her original ranking order.
When Gu Suining received the call from her counselor, she was completely stunned.
"Sui Ning, the college has re-examined the previous postgraduate recommendation quota. Wang Nian does not meet the requirements, so your GPA is still ranked third, which meets the requirements for postgraduate recommendation. Please come to my office to fill out the application form again. Just give me a call before you come. It's fine anytime, but the sooner the better." Zhang Haiyan's voice was slightly ingratiating.
Originally, I thought she was just a student with no background, but it turns out she has a powerful background. She easily took back what was rightfully hers and dragged a group of faculty and staff involved in the matter down with her. Zhang Haiyan was one of them. Fortunately, she only received a verbal warning, since she was just a junior counselor and was only following orders.
According to rumors, Shen Jianming, the vice dean, may lose his position and be reassigned to a less demanding role. It's been revealed that there have been numerous irregularities in the graduate student admissions he has handled in recent years.
However, Shen Jianming does have some connections, otherwise he would have been imprisoned. Being able to sit on the sidelines is a pretty good result.
After hanging up the counselor's call, Gu Suining was stunned for a long time until her phone rang again.
The call was from Qi Sijie: "Sui Ning, tell me the truth, who exactly are you? How could you keep this from me for so long? How could you do this to me?"
Gu Suining was both amused and exasperated: "What's their background?"
Before Gu Suining could explain, Qi Sijie interrupted her impatiently, "Where are you? I'm coming to find you."
"I just came in from the west gate, and I'm heading to my dorm."
"Coming right away!" Before Gu Suining could finish speaking, Qi Sijie hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, in the dormitory, roommates Sui Xinran and Yang Chu were also discussing this matter.
Yang Chu looked incredulous: "I really didn't expect that Gu Suining, who usually keeps a low profile, is actually quite capable!"
Faced with the facts, Sui Xinran had to admit, "It seems so. I was wondering how a local like her could not have any connections."
Yang Chu, who had a fairly good relationship with Sui Xinran, rolled her eyes inwardly at her hindsight-mongering behavior.
Knowing they're locals, yet still targeting them all the time, now they want to repair the relationship? Not so easy.
Before Gu Suining even reached the dormitory building, she saw Qi Sijie rushing towards her in a flurry of activity.
"Sui Ning!" Qi Sijie ran to Gu Sui Ning and gave her a big hug, but then immediately let go, placing his hands on her shoulders and asking, "Tell me the truth, who exactly are you? The whole academy is in an uproar, you know that?"
Gu Suining was already a bit confused, and Qi Sijie's sway only made her more bewildered: "I really don't know! Before your call, I received a call from my advisor, Teacher Zhang, who told me to fill out the form again. I really don't know anything else."
But how could Qi Sijie believe that so easily? "Don't be ridiculous. Wang Nian, the one who replaced you, has been returned to her original college, and the school is going to investigate her for plagiarism. It seems she's going to get a disciplinary action. It's all over the place now. The dean personally intervened in your case. Your background is really well hidden, isn't it?"
Gu Suining was both amused and exasperated: "If I really had connections, would I have been able to get Wang Nian to take my spot in the first place?"
Qi Sijie thought about it and felt it made sense, but she still looked at Gu Suining suspiciously: "Then how did things suddenly turn around? And so completely?"
Gu Suining shook her head; she really didn't know!
The two walked and talked, and when they were almost at the dormitory building, they ran into several classmates from the same major.
One of the girls greeted her warmly: "Gu Suining, congratulations! I heard you got another spot in the graduate school recommendation program."
"Thank you!" Gu Suining nodded.
Another girl leaned over and asked, "I heard Wang Nian's thesis was fabricated? How did you find out?"
Gu Suining was taken aback for a moment, then waved her hand and said, "I didn't discover it."
Girls love gossip, and college students are no exception. "Why would they suddenly investigate her? I heard she was reported. Could it be you?"
Gu Suining quickly denied it: "It wasn't me."
Although the girls were not entirely convinced, they didn't press the matter further. They simply smiled, congratulated the girls, and left.
After everyone had walked away, Qi Sijie patted Gu Suining on the shoulder and said, "See? Now everyone thinks you're the one who reported it."
Gu Suining sighed helplessly, "But it really wasn't me!"
"That's really strange. If it's not you, then who could it be? Could it be that God has opened his eyes?" Qi Sijie tilted his head and looked at Gu Suining.
Gu Suining didn't know how to explain it either; she herself was still confused.
Back in the dormitory, Sui Xinran and Yang Chu were both there.
The four of them stared at each other, and the atmosphere in the dormitory was somewhat subtle.
Yang Chu forced a smile: "Sui Ning, congratulations!"
Gu Suining never refused other people's kindness; she nodded and said, "Thank you!"
Sui Xinran remained seated at her desk, a magazine in her hand. She looked at Gu Suining, opened her mouth as if to say something, but ultimately said nothing and turned her head back to where it was.
Qi Sijie glanced at her, snorted coldly, and pulled Gu Suining to sit down at the desk.
"Sui Ning, quickly call your advisor back and finalize the form-filling arrangements," Qi Sijie reminded her.
Gu Suining did as instructed, took out her phone, and called counselor Zhang Haiyan in front of her roommates.
On the phone, Zhang Haiyan's voice was particularly friendly: "Then come now, I'll be waiting for you in my office."
After hanging up the phone, Gu Suining got up to leave, and Qi Sijie also stood up: "I'll go with you."
Just as the two reached the door, Sui Xinran's voice came from behind: "Gu Suining."
Gu Suining turned around and looked at Sui Xinran.
At this moment, Sui Xinran also stood up, her expression somewhat unnatural. She was also a little hesitant, saying, "What happened before was my fault. I spoke rudely. I'm sorry!"
Gu Suining was stunned; she hadn't expected Sui Xinran to apologize to her.
Qi Sijie was also stunned, but quickly recovered and muttered, "How strange, the sun must have risen in the west."
Sui Xinran pretended not to hear Qi Sijie's words and continued looking at Gu Suining, saying, "I sincerely apologize to you. Whether you accept it or not is up to you."
After saying that, she sat down at her desk and pretended to read a book.
Gu Suining thought for a moment, then said softly, "I understand!" and went out with Qi Sijie.
On the way, Qi Sijie couldn't help but complain, "She's scared. She thinks you must have a powerful background and is afraid you'll target her."
Gu Suining said with a wry smile, "I really have no connections!"
"I know, but she doesn't. But that's good, at least she won't be sarcastic with you anymore."
