Chapter 98 A Quiet Moment
Chapter 98 A Quiet Moment
Kurapika stood by the bed, and the night felt like a lifetime. The morning sun began to pour into the room through the heavy curtains, shining the dust of the room through the small dusty windows of the hotel.
All night, Kurapika walked from that uncomfortable chair to Kuroro's bed, looking at the man who killed his clan, his parents, and Palo ----- this A man makes him feel more anger, pain and... joy than any other person.
And now he's lying in front of him, unconscious but still alive ----- because Kurapika saved him.
He cured him.
Kurapika told himself that it was because Kuroro and the brigade still had eyes, but even he could taste the lies, forcing him to face the truth in silent words.
Kurapika leaned close to Kuroro, and lightly stroked the spider leader's face with his fingers. He tilted his head and sighed inaudibly.
"What the hell am I doing?" the boy murmured, his hands slipping as he stood up.
"No matter what, you don't need to stop because of me." Kuroro said softly.
Kurapika's chest tensed suddenly, his fingers accidentally caught Kuroro's shoulder, and the unhealed wound suddenly burst into pain, causing the man to take a deep breath.
"You're awake." Kurapika said in surprise, and let go of his hand immediately: "I----sorry, I hurt you."
"It's okay," Kuroro said.
He opened his eyes and moved his body as if trying to sit up, and Kurapika immediately raised the pillow so that his back could be supported. His still-healed body made it difficult to sit up, so Kurapika piled all the pillows behind Kuroro's back so that he could sit more comfortably.
When he straightened up, Kuroro was looking at him with the most bewildered expression, and the spider leader's face was still as irritatingly handsome as ever.
"I -----" Kurapika opened his mouth, but the words slipped out of his mouth in an instant, making him at a loss as to what to say: "I can't completely heal your wound." The boy continued after a while: " The healing process has consumed too much of my energy, so I can only finish it hastily.”
"You cured me." Kuroro said, with a hint of surprise in his tone: "I liberated your thoughts, and the first thing you did was heal me."
"I can't watch you die, can I?"
Kurapika stares straight at the pillow so he can't look at Kuroro, he can't watch his life go by, he can't--
But Kurapika could still hear the struggle inside, and hear Kuroro calling his name like a plea.He just stood there, turned around, and watched the blood slowly flow from between Kuroro's fingers. His fingers once touched him gently, how possessive it was, how...
He swallowed heavily, forcing himself to wipe away the whirlwind in his mind.
"My eyes are still in your hands," Kurapika added.
"I'm so lucky." Kuroro said flatly.
When Kurapika sat back, Kuroro still had that impenetrable mask on his face.Kurapika looked back at the other person quietly, refusing to look away, he tried his best to bear Kuroro's gaze.
"Stop looking at me like that again," he said finally, exasperated.
"How do I look at you?" the man asked patiently without looking away.
"It's like evaluating a famous painting."
"I can't read you," Kuroro admitted and nodded, surprising Kurapika with his reaction.
"I'm so lucky." The boy responded with the same words to the spider leader, who simply turned around and asked, "Whatever you want. I'm making coffee, would you like it?"
"If possible," Kuroro said, and Kurapika could hear his confusion.
Kurapika was immersed in the "work" of making coffee, but his thoughts were constantly running and integrating. When the coffee machine was started, he still didn't know how to face Kuroro's scrutinizing eyes.
"So," Kuroro began, drawing Kurapika's attention back to him, "what did I miss?"
"Not a lot," Kurapika said, turning to lean against the counter. "You've been stabbed several times like an idiot. What the hell are you thinking?"
His tone sounded very cold, but only he could know and feel it ----- when he saw the blood turning bright red like the eyes of his tribe, and seeing Kuroro's whole body covered in this color, the blood The anguish and terror that pierced my heart at that moment, running over his skin and staining his black coat, intensified at the sight of the man falling down and seemingly never getting back up.
"I -----" Kuroro was about to answer, pulling Kurapika's thoughts back to reality, but then he closed his mouth abruptly, and just tilted his head slightly to look at the boy: "The first wound is the Toxic," he commented, as if that would change anything.
"A little bit of poison won't stop you," Kurapika pointed out. "Can't you feel the effects of the venom? I'm sure you'll find a way. A man like you must have a way to keep the venom from spreading."
Kuroro showed a strange expression, but it disappeared before Kurapika could analyze it like an illusion.
"I was... distracted at the time." Kuroro admitted, an embarrassed expression crossing his face.
"So," Kurapika commented, took a packet of sugar as he turned and walked back to the coffee machine, tore it open and poured it into a paper cup, then returned to Kuroro with the cup and handed it over: "You found it in the vault. Some very valuable collectibles?"
A bewildered expression appeared on Kuroro's handsome face.
"Thank you." He said and took the paper cup in the boy's hand. Kuroro didn't drink it right away, but looked at Kurapika quietly with calm eyes: "There are indeed some valuable collections there, and his value is unimaginable."
Kurapika went back to the coffee machine and poured himself a cup of coffee.
"You must have encountered a lot of priceless things before this," he said. "No wonder you are distracted."
"I'm not----" Kuroro said, but stopped immediately.
Kurapika turned his face away, he looked at Kuroro with curious eyes, his brows were raised because of the sudden pause just now.Kuroro shut his mouth, picked up the glass and took a sip, then put it back on the bedside table.
"I don't know how your healing ability works." Kuroro changed the subject, "But I don't feel very good yet."
Kurapika shrugged and sighed.
"I sped up your body's healing functions," he explained. "It took a lot out of me."
Kurapika didn't say it also made him use some telekinetic abilities.
Chrollo tilted his head.
"You ran towards me when you could run away," he said. "The smartest thing to do was to just leave, but you took me and healed my wounds. Why?"
Kurapika stared at Kuroro, his heart beating painfully again. How would he tell Kuroro? How was he going to explain to him the fear that seemed to run deep into his bones? When he turned around because he heard his name, he was greeted by the image of Kuroro being stabbed, blood bubbling from his pale skin, dripping on the ground, and watching him fall Can't stand the scene.
He didn't want to think about it anymore, and he didn't want to remember any details, but the memories rushed back to his mind like a torrent, wave after wave.He kept seeing the scene of Kuroro falling, and the guards in the manor passed by him like a ghost when Kurapika rushed to the other side----he looked at Kuroro lying on the ground, The blood flowed away; the sound of fighting was heard, but the sound seemed to be blocked by an invisible secret room.
Kurapika lifted Kuroro up, his weight on his shoulders, and countless bodyguards ran towards him, all shouting "red-eyed demon". -----When he was in the car, his hands were trembling uncontrollably, the car key could not be inserted into the keyhole, but scratched off the paint on the car body, leaving traces on it, the outside of the car The pine trees howled in the strong wind, and the smell of the coming rain and the smell of blood rushed down the chest.
-----While he was driving, he kept scolding, praying, pleading, threatening; Kuroro lay in the back seat, motionless, as quiet as a corpse-----
Kurapika forced himself back to reality, he watched Kuroro intently, the spider boss was no longer surrounded by blood, his eyes that were so tense and closed last night had opened, he was still alive and... safe.Kurapika wiped away the fear, pain and anxiety, and then let out a slow sigh of relief.
"I acted subconsciously." Kurapika finally explained, blue eyes looking at Kuroro: "The smartest thing to do is to run away, but it seems that I----I can't face- ----Make a rational choice in the face of your situation.”
That was the problem, and Kurapika was sure it was in Kuroro's plan, and it turned out to please Kuroro. But when he met the spider leader's gaze, the man's expression contained some very serious emotions. He seemed to be deep in thought, with his brows furrowed.
They looked at each other silently, and the room suddenly fell into silence. Kurapika felt like an insect nailed to a wooden board by a collector, who was charming but cruel and cold-blooded.
"I see," the Spider Chief said finally, and held out his hand to Kurapika, as if inviting him.
Kurapika looked at Kuroro's hand, and after a while, he took a few steps forward and pulled the distance between the two closer. Kuroro's five fingers interlaced with each other, and then raised his other hand to gently touch Kurapika's hand. Rapika's cheeks. The boy stuck out his tongue and licked his lips, but immediately attracted the attention of another man.
Kurapika knew what that look meant, and now that he was familiar with the meaning behind it, he let the leader of the spider pull him down, and his lips were gently pressed together.Kuroro sitting on the bed made it difficult for Kurapika to balance because of their posture, so he pulled the boy closer and sat him on his lap.
"Wait, we shouldn't----" Kurapika protested.
"Hush." Kuroro said softly, "Just a little bit."
Kuroro kissed Kurapika and put his hand on the back of his head.He stroked the boy's golden hair up and down with his fingers, it was obviously a simple movement, but it made Kurapika tremble involuntarily, and then relaxed. There was something about this environment that made him feel very comfortable. Kissing Kuroro like this made him feel peaceful. Their lips were simply rubbing against each other, re-acquainted with each other's lips. When Kuroro stuck out his tongue, the relaxed Kurapika nestled obediently in the other's arms.
Kuroro stroked Kurapika's back with his hand, then gently kneaded his left buttock, making him let out a soft sigh.Kuroro's lips became more and more urgent, and his hands were also asking for something from the boy in his arms.
"No," Kurapika murmured, "I'm so hug----" He stopped, because it was nothing worthy of his apology: "I'm tired." Kurapika said, "I want to rest. "
He thought that Kuroro would refuse and argue, that he would directly push him down as usual, but unexpectedly, Kuroro simply nodded.
"Okay," he said, pecking Kurapika lightly on the mouth. "We can all rest for a while, go to bed, sleep first."
"Where's the coffee?" Kurapika asked.
"Don't worry about it?" Kuroro suggested. For once, it wasn't Kuroro's order, but a suggestion, one that Kurapika could refuse. The ending of this sentence was raised slightly, making it sound like a question, as if Kuroro was really asking the boy for his opinion.
"I think we'd sleep better without caffeine."
Kurapika looked at Kuroro for a long time, wondering what he should do.The smell of coffee was inviting, but he was also very tired from what happened last night. At the end, he nodded.
"Okay," he said, "let me remove the other -----"
He didn't have a chance to finish, because Kuroro had already picked him up, and the man tore lightly when the wound was involved, but still easily carried Kurapika to the other side of the bed.
Kuroro pecked Kurapika again, then gave him a mischievous smile.
"What did you just say?" Kuroro asked jokingly.
"No." Kurapika grunted, his tone impatient because of the other party's prank.
He pulls Kuroro down and asks him for a kiss, then lets go.Kuroro grinned, lay down in the direction of Kurapika, and stretched out his hands to bring the boy into his arms.
"What are you doing?" Kurapika asked.
"Hold you," Kuroro said.
"I can't sleep with you hugging me so tightly," Kurapika protested.
"Is it really not possible?" The man challenged him.
If Kuroro made a good decision, no one could convince him, Kurapika sighed helplessly, but in fact he was amused by the other party.Kurapika covered Kuroro's eyes with his hand, and pushed lightly after blocking his sight.
"You are truly unreasonable."
"Obviously you have a very skilled solution to this." Kuroro said with a grin.
"Shut up." Kurapika scolded with a chuckle.
He settled down in Kuroro's arms, relaxing as best he could, which wasn't easy, and he hadn't slept with anyone else in a long, long time.Lying in the same bed with Kuroro is one thing, but sleeping in someone's arms is a completely different thing, Kurapika trying to fall asleep, the sounds around the hotel are clearer in the quiet environment into the ear socket.
There was a vague quarrel in the room next to them; every few minutes, there was always a car passing by outside the window; pedestrians passing by the hotel were chatting excitedly. These voices were ignored when Kurapika and Kuroro were talking, but now they came one by one with incomparable clarity.
It can't go on like this.
Just when Kurapika told Kuroro to let go, Kuroro said, "So, you know how to drive."
It was a simple observation, but Kurapika frowned nonetheless.
"I know how to drive," he finally admits, "but haven't really tried, and I don't have a license."
"From robbing the collection of stupid rich families to driving without a license, I don't think getting a license is a problem for you."
Kurapika looked at Kuroro, but the man had closed his eyes and his face was expressionless.
"It's really stupid to explain why I don't have a license," Kurapika said. "Driving doesn't get me out of danger easily, plus -----" He paused, wondering if he should say it out loud. Then: "Plus, I don't want to waste my energy on driving. I want to focus on you. I didn't trust you before."
"That's a good reason." Kuroro said, nodding slightly, he opened his eyes and said, "'Before', does that mean you trust me now?"
Kurapika suppressed the rebuttal and impulse to blurt out, he even calmed down to think, wondering how far he would allow Kuroro to approach him.
"On something." He finally replied, without elaborating on what.
"It's good enough for me," Kuroro said, closing his eyes again.
Kurapika looked at each other quietly, watched his relaxed expression, and then thought about the situation between the two of them, and them ----- how they got to this point ----- Share a bed together, want pure kissing instead of sex, trust and respect each other.
He knew these thoughts should worry him, but it wasn't true, and Kurapika found himself relaxing against Kuroro's chest, sighed peacefully, closed his eyes, and finally fell into a deep sleep.
