Chapter 88 Reunion
Chapter 88 Reunion
"Fourth brother, you're finally here!"
Xiao Kai had just driven his SUV off the ferry and had only just left the port when he saw a city SUV parked on the side of the road.
The three people standing next to the car were none other than his roommates from college.
They are the eldest brother Li Weijie, the second brother Hu Kang, and the third brother Xu Ning, who is getting married this time.
As soon as Xiao Kai drove out of the port, Xu Ning rushed out to stop him and punched him in the shoulder with considerable force, clearly showing his resentment.
"Sorry, sorry, I finally managed to come back, so I went to Hepu for a couple of days first! Hehe!"
Seeing Xu Ning's resentful expression, Xiao Kai quickly explained with a smile.
He had promised Xu Ning that he would come three or four days in advance, but he got so engrossed in playing in Hepu that he forgot about it, which is quite embarrassing.
"Damn it, I bet you forgot! The eldest and second eldest arrived the day before yesterday, and you're the only one missing. It's not easy for the four of us in the dorm to reunite, and you're absent and so late! So, what are we going to do?"
"I'm so sorry, I'll punish myself with three drinks later, okay?"
That's more like it.
After exchanging a few words with Xu Ning, Xiao Kai turned his gaze to the two men smiling beside him and said, "Big brother, second brother, it's been years! How have you been?"
"I can't compare to you, traveling and fishing everywhere. I'm so envious!" said the eldest brother, Li Weijie, with a laugh.
"Exactly, exactly. How can anyone compare to you, a big internet celebrity now? Seeing how well you're doing, I'm so jealous!" The second brother, Hu Kang, was still as sarcastic as ever, but Xiao Kai, who knew him well, knew that he didn't really think that way.
"Look at what you're saying, she's not some big internet celebrity, she just takes some random photos, mainly for that little bit of money!" Xiao Kai said with a smile.
This remark immediately earned him three eye rolls.
"Get lost! If I didn't know the situation, I would have believed your nonsense!"
After finishing his sentence without saying a word, Hu Kang looked aggrieved and said to the other two.
"Tell me, this guy quietly won a major competition last time, didn't even bother to visit me, and then just left without a word. If Xie Shaofan hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known!"
"Damn, fourth brother, that's not right of you. You'd better show more respect to second brother later!"
"Yes, yes, yes!"
The other two started making a fuss on the side.
"Alright!"
Xiao Kai nodded helplessly.
"Let's go, let's go. Whatever you want to say, we'll talk about it later!"
At this moment, because Xiao Kai and his group had parked haphazardly, it seemed that they had blocked many cars coming out from behind, so the eldest brother, Li Weijie, quickly reminded them.
"Okay, I'll ride in Lao Si's car. See you at the hotel later!" Hu Kang said, pulling open the passenger door of Xiao Kai's car and getting in.
"Okay, I've sent you Lao Si's location. It's still a bit far. See you later!" Xu Ning said, leading Li Weijie toward his car.
They both arrived by plane, so they didn't drive.
Soon, the two cars left.
Following the navigation, Xiao Kai drove into the city, but did not stop. Instead, he continued to cross the city and headed east.
Throughout the journey, Hu Kang kept talking to Xiao Kai, mostly doing the talking and Xiao Kai answering.
They drove for about an hour before finally arriving at Puqian Town.
Puqian Township, located in the eastern part of Coconut City, is a very beautiful small town.
This place is rich in various seafood and fruits, with coconuts being the most famous.
Xu Ning's family lives here.
Upon arriving in town, the four did not go directly to Xu Ning's house, but instead stopped at a local restaurant with distinctive characteristics.
For the next few hours, Xu Ning and the four of them ate and drank there, continuing until late at night.
During the meal, Xiao Kai kept toasting the three of them, ostensibly to apologize for the past few days of waiting, but in reality, it was just an uncontrollable outpouring of joy at their reunion after a long separation.
In the end, Xiao Kai didn't even know how he left.
All he knew was that he woke up the next day in an unfamiliar hotel.
...
The sea breeze, carrying the salty smell of the ocean, blew into the hotel room through the window, waking Xiao Kai from his deep sleep.
In his hazy state, Xiao Kai heard the sound of waves crashing in his ears.
He slowly opened his eyes, and what came into view was an unfamiliar room.
After a moment's thought, Xiao Kai realized that Xu Ning and the others had brought him to the hotel.
Looking at the azure sea outside the floor-to-ceiling window, Xiao Kai lost himself in thought and gradually drifted into a state of emptiness.
After a long while, he slowly exhaled.
"Phew~ I didn't expect to black out last night. I'll have to be more careful next time!" Xiao Kai muttered.
Xiao Kai glanced at the time and realized it was already 10:30 in the morning.
Without hesitation, Xiao Kai got up, put on his slippers, and headed to the bathroom.
Soon, the faint sound of flowing water could be heard.
Twenty minutes later, Xiao Kai, having finished his shower, reappeared in the room looking refreshed and energetic.
He took out his phone and called Xu Ning. After learning that Xu Ning's car was still parked at the restaurant after he got drunk last night, he prepared to go and get it himself.
He originally planned to invite his two older brothers, who lived next door, to go together, but after sending the message and not receiving a response for several minutes, he gave up.
Once outside the hotel, Xiao Kai opened the location that Xu Ning had sent him yesterday.
Only then did he realize that the hotel they were staying at was less than 500 meters away from where they had eaten the day before.
Why bother taking a taxi? Xiao Kai immediately decided to walk there.
Following the navigation, Xiao Kai strolled along the road by the sea.
Along the way, the sea breeze whistled across his face, carrying a slight fishy smell into his nostrils.
The waves kept crashing against the road embankment on the shore, the sound loud but not harsh.
Seagulls occasionally flew overhead, their clear cries making Xiao Kai feel relaxed.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through my mind: living here wouldn't be so bad.
Xiao Kai was stunned as soon as the idea came to him.
"Yeah, since I'm a fisherman, what difference does it make where I fish? The ocean is so vast, how could it be lacking in fish? Maybe the seaside is a good choice?"
The more Xiao Kai thought about it, the more reliable it seemed.
As he was thinking, Xiao Kai unknowingly deviated from his original route.
He was supposed to walk about 200 meters along the beach to get to the place where he ate yesterday, and then turn into the town.
However, without realizing it, he ended up at the dock near the cross-sea bridge.
"Hey there, sir! Want to buy some fish?"
Xiao Kai, who was immersed in his own world, was suddenly awakened by a voice.
He then realized that he had arrived at an unfamiliar dock.
The person he was talking to was an aunt wearing a straw hat, who looked to be in her forties or fifties.
On the stall in front of her were various seafood products, mostly sea fish, most of which Xiao Kai did not recognize. In addition, there were some shellfish such as oysters, all of which looked quite fresh.
