Chapter 1215 - 1254: A Feeling of Powerlessness
Her fingers hadn’t pried even a single one of his fingers away, yet a huge wave of pain would swell up in his chest, and when his hand completely slipped free from her arm, that pain felt as if it were about to drown him.
She was clearly right in front of him, yet he seemed utterly powerless to hold on to her.
Mabel Quinn took her daughter’s hand and walked into the elevator.
The little one looked at Kyle Kinston, who still hadn’t stepped into the elevator, and asked curiously, "Mommy, why isn’t Daddy coming in the elevator?"
"Daddy still has work to do, so Mommy and Ivy won’t go with Daddy this time." Mabel said, glancing once at Kyle outside the elevator, then pressing the elevator’s close-door button.
The elevator doors slowly slid shut. Right before his eyes, the figures of her and their daughter were being slowly cut off from him, until in the end, they vanished completely.
Just once—does that mean a whole lifetime?
His steps suddenly faltered. Was this the answer she was giving him? No matter whether she was his wife or not, was it impossible for her to ever accept him again?
Back then, he’d never told her about the Kinston Family Blood Curse either.
Back then, how exactly had he talked to her? In what way had he asked her to get rid of the child? How had he hurt her?
Aside from what he already knew, what else had he done? Why couldn’t he remember any of it?
Why? Why?!
He wanted to remember all of it, wanted to recall every moment he had once spent with her. For the first time, he suddenly felt so powerless, as if even the memories that should have belonged to him were missing to the point that he could never retrieve them.
"Sir, what’s wrong? You don’t look very well." someone passing by at his side spoke up.
Kyle Kinston suddenly started laughing, but buried in his laughter was a bitterness beyond words.
If he told her about the Kinston Family’s Blood Curse, would she then be willing to forgive the wrongs he committed back then? Would she understand the mindset of wanting the Kinston bloodline to end with himself?
But if he said it, then he would be just like his father back then—his life and death held completely in his mother’s hands.
She and his mother were not the same kind of person; if he really told her, she definitely wouldn’t punish him the way his mother had punished his father.
Even if his whole life truly ended up entirely in her control... it wouldn’t matter, would it.
All because he couldn’t bear her rejection. Her rejection made him suffer that much.

When Kyle Kinston returned to the car alone, he sat in the back seat and didn’t speak for a long time, just closed his eyes and leaned against the rear seat, his whole person looking utterly exhausted.
The Driver in the front naturally didn’t dare say much, only waited; after all, three had gotten out of the car earlier, yet now only the president had come back, and the president’s expression clearly didn’t look very good.
After quite a while, a commotion rose up ahead. Kyle Kinston slowly opened his eyes and looked forward. It was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a newly opened cinema next to the mall.
Kyle Kinston ordered the Driver in front in a cold voice, "Let’s go back."
"Yes, sir." the Driver responded, starting the car.
As the car slowly pulled out of the parking lot and passed in front of the cinema, Kyle only saw another car coming to a stop, and a man getting out of it, while several people who seemed to be senior staff or employees of the cinema were all smiling as they hurried over to welcome this man.
