Chapter 55 3 Disciples
Chapter 55 3 Disciples
Following Yan Yuxue, the group arrived at the valley floor between the three mountain peaks.
The fog here is so thick that nothing can be seen beyond ten feet. Only the faint glow of magic can be detected in the distance, as if people are fighting.
As the group approached, it became clear that they were two groups pulling at each other.
One side consisted of seven or eight people, dressed in short, brown outfits and python-skin boots, mostly controlling spirit beasts in battle; they were clearly cultivators from the Beast Spirit Sect.
The other side consisted of only three people, dressed in dark linen and surrounded by ghostly figures; they were cultivators from the Corpse Soul Sect. One of them was carrying a large vermilion coffin on his back, which looked very similar to the coffin outside the secret realm, only smaller.
Xiao Ming was somewhat surprised to see this. The Corpse Soul Sect only had three people, yet they had managed to hold out for so long. That was quite remarkable.
At this moment, the three who had been struggling to hold on were stunned when they saw Xiao Ming and his group, and then their faces lit up with joy.
"Are you a fellow Daoist from the Gu Spirit Sect?"
"Exactly!" Yan Yuxue stepped forward and said.
"Fellow Daoists of the Gu Spirit Sect, this is a feud between my Beast Spirit Sect and the Corpse Soul Sect. Please do not interfere."
Just then, a young man with short hair, who was at the ninth level of Qi Refining, stepped out from among the disciples of the Beast Spirit Sect and cupped his hands in greeting to Xiao Ming and the others.
"My name is Zhong Xing. Elder Zhong from outside the secret realm is an elder of my family," the man revealed his identity before continuing.
"Our Beast Spirit Sect arrived here first and has been here for a long time. There are many more secret palaces on other peaks, and we don't know how many treasures they hold. Please move to another place and seek other opportunities."
Upon hearing this, even a ruthless character like Shen Tu Ren couldn't help but be startled.
They're actually descendants of a Core Formation Elder's family; they're not to be underestimated.
"Fellow Daoists, don't be fooled by him. This valley is no ordinary place; it is a spiritual herb garden within this secret realm, its value immeasurable. If you leave like this, are you going to hand over all the thousand-year-old spiritual herbs in this garden to others?" The cultivator carrying the red coffin among the three from the Corpse Soul Sect shouted loudly.
"Ling Tianyu, your ancestor almost perished in this secret realm, yet you still dare to barge in. You really have a death wish." Zhong Xing turned around and glared fiercely at the man carrying the coffin.
Upon hearing this, the man carrying the coffin named Ling Tianyu flew into a rage. "My ancestor's condition is none of your concern. In short, your Beast Spirit Sect will not be able to monopolize this Spirit Herb Garden."
"Fellow Daoists, may I have a word to say?" Yan Yuxue stepped forward at this moment.
"Sixth level of Qi Refining?" Zhong Xing frowned slightly upon sensing Yan Yuxue's cultivation level.
"Fellow Daoist's cultivation level is rather low, so please step aside."
"What, no one listens to my Junior Sister Yan? Then how about adding my sword?" Shen Tu Ren stepped forward with a sneer, and Qu Zheng beside him also stepped forward, revealing his cultivation level.
"Oh, it seems I underestimated this fellow Daoist." Zhong Xing glanced at Yan Yuxue with some surprise. She was able to command the respect of her fellow disciples whose cultivation was higher than hers. This person was definitely not simple. Could she be a direct descendant of an elder of the Gu Ling Sect?
"Fellow Daoist, I am different from that Zhong fellow. I would like to hear your insightful opinion." Ling Tianyu said with a smile, stirring up trouble. He wished the two sides would start fighting immediately.
Zhong Xing didn't say anything more, just snorted coldly and said no more.
"Fellow Daoists, we came to this secret realm seeking treasures. It would be a waste to start fighting before we've even found any," Yan Yuxue said, stepping forward.
"Although the spiritual herbs in this herb garden are tempting, they are protected by an array formation. Even if the power of the array decreases significantly over time, it would still be too difficult for us Qi Refining stage disciples to break through it. I believe that after testing it yourself many times, Fellow Daoist Zhong, you should have a good understanding of the strength of this array."
"So what if it is?" Zhong Xing retorted.
"I know a weak point in the formation. If we attack from there, and with the combined strength of all of us Qi Refining cultivators, it shouldn't be a problem to create a passage."
"How did you find out about this?" Zhong Xing asked, looking surprised and suspicious.
Yan Yuxue did not answer, but simply smiled calmly. "Would you be willing to give it a try, fellow Daoist?"
Despite their doubts, it was clear that no one would reject this good news.
Led by Yan Yuxue, the group circled around and arrived at the other side of the mountain.
"There are traces of magic being cast here." Zhong Xing touched a scorch mark on the ground and suddenly remembered that some rogue cultivators had entered this place before the cultivators from the three sects came in.
"Please look, everyone." Yan Yuxue pointed ahead, where two stone drums stood, each carved with a mythical beast. The beast had a body like a snail or clam, but a dragon's head, and held an iron ring in its mouth.
One of the stone drums was charred and broken on one side, as if it had been subjected to a powerful attack by some kind of magic.
"The power of the restrictions here does feel weaker," Ling Tianyu said, looking around.
"In that case, let's begin." Zhong Xing patted his spirit beast pouch and released a peak third-tier demon lion.
This lion is majestic and powerful, with flames coiled around its thick mane and golden light gleaming in its eyes. It's clearly a special and exotic species.
With a single gulp, it spat out a beam of flame that struck the broken stone drum squarely.
Although the stone drum was damaged, the power of the magic array on it still remained. When the light shone, the magic array runes immediately blocked the attack.
"Senior brother, we're here to help you." Seeing this, the other disciples of the Beast Spirit Sect also released their own spirit beasts.
After a fierce attack, the runes of the magic circle began to dim.
Seeing that it was effective, the remaining two groups also joined the attack.
The three members of the Corpse Soul Sect joined forces and summoned a giant skeletal claw, which slammed heavily against the stone drum.
Meanwhile, Xiao Ming and the others each used their spells to bombard the stone drum in turn.
The scene of the three parties working together appears extremely harmonious, but upon closer inspection, it can be seen that as the array runes become increasingly dim, the distance between the three parties is deliberately widening, clearly indicating that they are all guarding against a sudden sneak attack from the other party.
"boom!"
With a loud bang, the already severely damaged stone drum finally succumbed to the attack and exploded.
If one of the stone drums is damaged, the power of the magic array immediately decreases significantly.
Upon seeing this, Zhong Xing suddenly smiled mysteriously. He suddenly rushed forward towards the stone drum, and a purple talisman appeared in his hand.
As the purple talisman lit up, the magic array runes on the stone drum immediately dimmed rapidly, and a hole was forcibly torn open.
"This is a barrier-breaking talisman! This guy surnamed Zhong really had something up his sleeve!" Ling Tianyu shouted, and immediately started to follow.
However, the cultivators of the Beast Spirit Sect worked together closely, and the demonic beasts that were attacking the magic array suddenly changed direction.
The fiery lion opened its mouth and unleashed a pillar of fire, forcing Ling Tianyu back.
"Gentlemen, our Beast Spirit Sect will take our leave first."
The tear in the barrier talisman began to heal in the blink of an eye, and Zhong Xing's laughter disappeared into the mist.
